What are the priority issues for sustainable development?


First, it is important to understand the term used by companies known as the "triple bottom line." These are the values used to measure the success and sustainability of an organization, where social and environmental elements are incorporated into the traditional vision of business.

Sustainable development refers to the production, consumption, and investment habits that enable us to always enjoy the material, social, and environmental conditions for a dignified existence and a better quality of life.

What does this have to do with Sustainable Development? 

Based on the above, the Brundtland Report clearly defines sustainable development as "meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." That is why, by 2005, at the World Summit on Social Development, the following three priority areas for global sustainable development were established:

  • Economic Development
  • Social Development
  • Environmental Protection
