Importance of the 3R's

Recycling and reusing are extremely important to avoid depleting our natural resources and, above all, to prevent further pollution of our bodies of water and other land areas.
Despite the signing of the Paris Agreement and many other international treaties aimed at reducing the impact of climate change, pollution continues to increase, and unfortunately, it is causing more deaths each year.
The above is so serious that, did you know that pollution causes more deaths than those caused by wars and violence?
Sadly, this is completely true. According to the medical journal The Lancet, one in every six premature deaths in the world could be attributed to diseases caused by toxic exposure. Additionally, the economic cost of these deaths, illnesses, and social assistance amounts to $4.6 trillion in annual losses, representing 6.2% of the global economy.
The problem with these types of diseases is that governments often do not allocate resources or attention to them as they do with AIDS or cancer, as they are not considered public health issues. On the other hand, people usually overlook them as they perceive them as scattered incidents.
There is still a long way to go globally, as there are regions in some continents like Africa where they do not even have air pollution monitoring systems.
Soil pollution has affected human health due to potential toxins that continue to be ignored. This has resulted in countries like India, where one in every four deaths is related to pollution.
Therefore, I invite you to make use of the 3Rs: Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce.
