The role of Latin American investments in climate action.

During the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), Vesta, a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and participant in the Climate Initiative for Latin American Investors (ICIL), signed the Declaration of Support for the Paris Agreement and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures.

ICIL aims to support signatories in strengthening their commitments and practices for managing climate change in their portfolios. Additionally, it calls for a commitment to a national net-zero emissions target by mid-century and ensuring that the economic recovery plans from the COVID-19 pandemic support the transition to a net-zero emissions economy and enhance resilience to climate change.

In 2022, PRI Latam signatories will develop a Climate Action Plan to demonstrate practices associated with TCFD alignment, identification of climate risks, use of climate scenario analysis, and definition of metrics to monitor climate change in their portfolios.

By 2023, it is expected that at least ten PRI Latam signatories participating in ICIL will establish net-zero emissions strategies in line with recognized global initiatives.

Vesta is committed to being disruptive in order to raise efficiency standards, adapt to change, and strengthen the drive towards sustainability.
